BLENDING
To achieve different blending techniques with your Couture Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Ink Markers, you’ll want to add a colourless blender to your collection. Blender markers are used in various blending techniques to push the colour around on the page. Here are just some of the ways you can use a colourless blender.
1. You can transfer colour onto your blender marker by touching the tips of the two markers(the colour marker and the blender) together for a few seconds.
2. Another way you can transfer colour onto a blender is by using the palette technique. Scribble the coloured marker over a plastic-like surface (something nonporous). You can then pick that colour up with the colourless blender by swiping over the coloured area.
3. The dark to light effect- With colour on the tip of the blender, drag the tip in a straight line. The beginning of the stroke will be darker and will fade as the stroke continues. You’ll want to do this in a quick motion to get the desired look.
4. The circle technique- This is the same concept as the dark to light technique mentioned above. The difference here is making your stroke in a circular motion instead of a straight line. Your darker area will be around the outside of the circle and will gradually get lighter towards the middle.
5. Limit how much you colour over dark areas, you could get over-blending and you don’t want that!
6. Transferring colour over to your blender will not contaminate the nib. You can always clean out the nib of the blender by scribbling the colour out on a piece of scratch paper.
7. The darker the colour is, the less ink you need to transfer to your blender.
8. You can also lift colour from your piece to create highlights or texture by pressing the nib over colour.
9. Fix marks that made their way outside the line by pushing the colour back in the lines with a blender. Let dry and keep repeating to lighten the colour.
SHADING
Shading with Couture Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Ink Markers tends to be fairly easy as they’re great for layering. Here are some shading tips to experiment with.
1.Couture Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Ink Markers work best while your ink is still wet. Starting with your lightest colour, fill in the whole area, then layer on your darker colours for shading.
2. Colour in small circles to get an even, blended look.
3. You can leave areas uncoloured for bright highlights.4. Only blend two colours at a time, using the lighter of the two to do the blending.5. When finished, you can use your lightest colour to smooth the drawing out. But be careful not to overdo it or you could lighten your dark shadows.
UNDERSTANDING BLENDING COMBINATIONS
Each Couture Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Ink Marker has a code that corresponds with its colour. Refer to your Couture Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Marker colour wheel.
OTHER SUPPLIES
Smooth white cardstock works best with Couture Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Ink Markers.•Test new pens before use by drawing a circle and then filling it in with a Couture Creations Twin TipAlcohol Ink Marker, getting close to your pen line but not on it. Add enough so the colour spreads over the pen line. Pay attention to your circle outline. If it does not bleed or blur, you have yourself the perfect pen to use with Couture Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Ink Markers.• When it comes to stamping, Pigment, Alcohol, Distress and Dye Inks are all recommended for use with future Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Ink Markers
OTHER TIPS
Markers tend to bleed through the paper which is why we recommend having a piece of scratch paper under the surface you’re working on to protect your work area.• Let your linework dry before going over it with a marker.• Prevent streaking by making sure your edges stay wet.• For large areas, soak the paper with a blender marker and while still wet use your marker over top. This will blend colours together better.• Couture Creations Twin Tip Alcohol Ink Markers can be used with other mediums like coloured pencils and paint but be extra careful that your nibs don’t clog.
